NAUGATUCK — A 30-year-old woman was arrested June 25 after police found two children locked in a hot car outside Walmart.

Talita Sonia De Carvalho Silva faces two counts each of risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment and leaving a child under 12 unsupervised in a vehicle.

Officers responded to the store after witnesses reported a 1-month-old and 8-year-old were locked inside the vehicle.

The car’s alarm was sounding because the 8-year-old was trying to get out, witnesses told police.

When officers arrived, both children were crying and covered in sweat.

Naugatuck Emergency Medical Services transported the children to a local hospital.

Silva walked out of the store to the car where the children were located and was arrested.

She was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond.

Silva is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 9 at 9 a.m.
