NAPLES — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office announced plans for the town’s July 4 celebration, warning attendees to expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the day and evening.

The fireworks display is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. from Long Lake.

Route 302 will be closed to vehicle traffic at the intersections of Route 35 (Harrison Road), Route 114 (Sebago Road), Lakehouse Road and Lambs Mill Road from 9:10 p.m. through 10:00 p.m.

Road closures and delays are expected along Route 302 in the hours leading up to and during the fireworks.

Those not attending the event are encouraged to seek alternative routes due to expected heavy traffic.

The Naples Fire-Rescue Department, EMS, Maine Warden Service and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will have a large presence during the event on land and water.

Police drones will be in use during the celebration.

Officials encourage attendees to stay well hydrated to avoid heat-related emergencies and to not drink and drive on water or roadways.

Attendees are asked to report any unsafe or suspicious activity to public safety officials on site or by calling 911.
