YONKERS — A Bronx man was arrested on weapon charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 87 in the early morning hours of June 25.
Troopers from Troop T, SP Tarrytown, conducted the traffic stop at approximately 3:30 a.m. on a gray 2021 Hyundai Elantra for violations of the vehicle and traffic law on the New York State Thruway.
A subsequent impairment investigation ensued.
A search for intoxicating agents was conducted, which resulted in the recovery of a loaded Taurus G2C 9mm.
Jerico E. Vega, age 21, was placed under arrest and charged with violating sections 265.03 subsection 01B (Criminal Possession of Weapon in the 2nd degree – Loaded Firearm) a class C felony and 265.02 subsection 8 (Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device.) a class D felony of the penal law.
The suspect was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Evan Inlaw in Yonkers city court.
Vega was remanded to Westchester County Jail on $2,500 cash bail, $25,000 bond and 10% of $24,000 for partially secured bond.
He is scheduled to reappear in Yonkers city court on Tuesday, July 1, at 3:00 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
