Westford police investigate drowning death of 83-year-old woman

WESTFORD — Police and fire departments responded to a drowning incident Friday afternoon that left an 83-year-old woman dead.

Officers were called to a residence on Dunstable Road at approximately 1:14 p.m. for a report of an unconscious woman who was not breathing.

The woman was found on a dock at the rear of the residence and had been located in the water of Long Sought for Pond.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR, and assisted fire personnel with additional life-saving efforts.

Despite the emergency response, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there is no suspicion of foul play and no danger to the public.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Westford Police Department Special Services Division along with Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
