SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested Michael J. Stevenson, 56, of Hartford on Wednesday on multiple charges after a traffic stop revealed a fake registration plate and suspected drugs.

An officer stopped Stevenson at 2:40 a.m. after observing his vehicle had an illegible paper registration plate that was later determined to be fake.

The investigation revealed the vehicle was not registered, had no insurance, and Stevenson had a suspended license.

K-9 Mason conducted a narcotics search on the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside.

Police found suspected crack cocaine and seven glass smoking pipes commonly used for smoking crack cocaine.

Stevenson was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on July 9 at 9 a.m.

In a separate incident Thursday, police arrested Romario A. Robinson, 28, of Manchester after observing him make an illegal U-turn at Buckland Road and Buckland Hills Drive at 10:21 p.m.

During the traffic stop, officers determined Robinson had no license and an active arrest warrant for failure to pay an infraction.

Robinson became resistant when placed in handcuffs, dragging his feet and sitting on the ground to prevent officers from placing him in a police cruiser.

Robinson attempted to hook an officer’s leg and put his head into an officer’s chest, resulting in him being taken to the ground and causing minor injury.

Robinson was processed and released on a $10,000 non-surety bond on the motor vehicle and interfering charges.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on July 16 at 9 a.m.

Robinson was also processed and released on a $500 cash/surety bond on the failure to respond to an infraction charge and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on July 10 at 9 a.m.
