ROME — Officers from the Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a burglary alarm at Rizzo’s Market, located at 401 S. James Street, at approximately 3:45 a.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the front door window had been shattered.
A preliminary investigation indicates that an unidentified individual gained entry to the business and stole an undetermined quantity of lottery tickets.
On Friday, 38-year-old James I. Sikes of Taberg was taken into custody by the Rome Police Detective Division and Street Crimes Unit.
Sikes is charged with burglary in the 3rd degree.
Sikes was transported to Rome Police Headquarters where he was processed and held for arraignment in Rome City Court.
