SUTTON — Police have identified a person of interest in the vandalism of two historic buildings and expect to make an arrest soon.
The Sutton Police Department received a report at approximately 8 a.m. June 25 of an open door and multiple broken windows at the Sutton Meeting House on Meeting House Hill Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that both the historic Meeting House and School House had been vandalized.
Police Chief Jonathan Korbet said Thursday that investigators, working with New Hampshire State Police, have identified a person of interest.
“We expect to execute a formal arrest warrant shortly,” Korbet said.
He said police believe the suspect acted alone and there is no threat to the public.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office.
Korbet thanked the community for providing numerous tips during the investigation.
“Our department shares the community’s concern about the damage to these buildings and will ensure that justice is served,” he said.
