PALMYRA — Police are investigating a suspicious incident involving juveniles that occurred early Thursday morning on W. Foster Street.

Officers responded to a report from a homeowner who provided surveillance footage showing two juveniles approaching his residence at approximately 3:30 a.m. June 26.

The individuals had their faces partially covered with T-shirts and fled immediately when a motion-detected security light activated.

A School Resource Officer separately reported observing approximately 10-15 juveniles on school property around 1 a.m. that same day.

Police say the proximity of the school to the residence suggests the two individuals may have been part of the larger group, though this remains unconfirmed.

The Palmyra Police Department is actively investigating both incidents.

Police reminded residents of the Village of Palmyra’s Curfew Law, which prohibits minors from being in public places during specified hours unless an exemption applies.

Curfew hours for minors are 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Parents or guardians who knowingly permit or fail to control a minor from loitering during curfew hours may face enforcement action, including appearance tickets.

Charges may include Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor under Penal Law § 260.10.

Conviction can carry penalties of up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Police urge residents to report suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.
