Landscaper dies after being struck by falling tree limb in Somers

SOMERS — A landscaper died after being struck by a falling tree limb while performing tree removal work at a private residence June 23.

Jonathan Chavez Jaramillo, 31, of Ossining, was working as part of a landscaping crew contracted by a homeowner when the accident occurred at approximately 4:03 p.m.

New York State Police in Somers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to a report of an unresponsive male at the residence.

Emergency personnel from the Somers Fire Department responded and immediately initiated life-saving measures.

Chavez Jaramillo was transported to a local medical facility, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
