Warwick police arrest woman in stabbing on Helene Road

WARWICK — Town of Warwick Police arrested a woman Thursday night following a stabbing incident on Helene Road.

According to police, officers responded to a report of an assault at approximately 9:18 p.m. on June 19.

Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old female victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Officers rendered first aid at the scene.

The victim identified her attacker and provided police with a nearby address.

She was transported to Garnett Health Medical Center in Middletown with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Emerly Hernandez, 24, of Helene Road.

Hernandez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Town of Warwick Police Department for processing.

She was charged with assault in the first degree, a Class B felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Hernandez was arraigned and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation by the Town of Warwick Police Department’s Detective Unit.
