PRINCETOWN — State Police arrested Charlee J. Cobin, 29, of Angelica, on June 25 for grand larceny in the second degree in connection to an alleged extortion scheme.

On May 22 at about 10:48 a.m., State Police at Princetown BCI were contacted by the Schenectady County District Attorney’s office regarding a resident who reported being the victim of extortion.

The investigation determined that Cobin had met the victim online in April 2024.

During the course of their communications, Cobin allegedly requested money from the victim.

When the victim refused to provide money, Cobin reportedly threatened to expose their communications, causing the victim significant embarrassment and ridicule.

Between April 2024 and April of this year, Cobin allegedly extorted more than $250,000 from the victim.

Cobin was arrested at her home in Allegany County and transported to SP Princetown for processing.

She was arraigned in Schenectady City Court and released on her own recognizance.
