Police seek witnesses in New Hartford hit-and-run crash

NEW HARTFORD — The New Hartford Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that injured an 82-year-old pedestrian Wednesday evening.

Police and fire departments responded at 9:20 p.m. to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the parking lot of New Hartford Presbyterian Church on Park Street.

Barbara Wuest of Utica was walking when she was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene, police said.

The New Hartford Fire Department provided medical aid to Wuest at the scene.

Wuest was transported by Life Net helicopter to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to her lower body.

The New Hartford Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is handling the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the incident to call the New Hartford Police Department and ask to speak with an investigator.
