ADDISON — A 66-year-old Iowa woman fell asleep while driving and crashed into a pole on Vermont Route 22A on June 26.
Karen Pratt of Waukee, Iowa, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban south on Route 22A north of Route 17 at about 3:56 p.m. when she fell asleep, according to Vermont State Police.
The vehicle left the southbound lane and struck a pole before coming to rest.
Five people were in the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.
The Vergennes Fire Department and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
Pratt was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, which carries a $220 fine and two points.
