Cortland man faces attempted murder charge in ongoing investigation

CORTLAND — The Cortland Police Department announced updated charges against Carlos Planas in connection with a violent incident under investigation.

Planas was arrested June 25 as a result of new developments in the case, police said.

The original charges have been updated to include assault in the first degree, a Class B felony, and attempted murder in the second degree, a Class B felony.

Planas was arraigned and remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.

Police said Planas was previously arrested in connection with the same incident.

The investigation remains ongoing with additional arrests possible, according to police.
