BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 19-year-old Dorchester man on multiple firearm charges after he fled from officers responding to a loud party call early Thursday morning.

Erick Manan was taken into custody at approximately 12:29 a.m. after officers responded to a disturbance at 79 Fayston Street in Dorchester.

Officers were aware of a ShotSpotter activation that had occurred the previous night at approximately 12:57 a.m. near 68-70 Fayston Street and approached the scene with increased caution.

Upon arrival, officers observed 10 to 15 people gathered on the steps of 8-10 Dunkeld Street with liquor bottles, a cooler and a large speaker.

As officers approached the group, Manan stood up and fled on foot toward Quincy Street while reaching toward his waistband.

Officers pursued Manan and observed him remove a firearm from his waistband and throw it near 180 Quincy Street.

The weapon struck the roof of a parked vehicle before landing on the sidewalk.

Officers apprehended Manan and secured the weapon, which was identified as a Glock 17 Gen5 with a high-capacity magazine capable of holding 31 rounds.

The magazine contained 26 rounds with one round chambered.

Several individuals from the original group became confrontational during the arrest, and Manan resisted before being placed in a police cruiser.

Officers later instructed all party attendees to collect their belongings and leave the area.

Manan is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, resisting arrest and malicious destruction of property under $1,200.
