WESTBROOK — A Westbrook police officer took a report June 16 from a resident of East Bridge Street that a bicycle was stolen from their residence and that their vehicle was burglarized.

Later that morning, the same officer was on patrol and spotted a male riding the stolen bicycle on Main Street near City Hall.

The officer stopped the male, confirmed that it was the stolen bicycle, and arrested the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Jay Warren, 37, of Westbrook.

He was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property and violation of conditions of release.

Six days prior, Warren had been arrested by Westbrook police for burglarizing a vehicle on Brook Street, where he was found in possession of stolen items and a stolen firearm from Portland.

The stolen bicycle was returned to its owner.
