Walton man charged with DWI after crash

WALTON — A Walton resident was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge following a single-car crash Thursday night on County Highway 21 in Walton.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the accident at approximately 11 p.m. June 19.

Deputies identified the driver as 75-year-old Erol Tural of Walton.

Following an investigation, Tural was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, both misdemeanors under New York State Penal Law.

He was also issued traffic summonses for moving from lane unsafely, having an obstructed plate, speed not reasonable or prudent, and no seat belt, which are all vehicle and traffic law violations.

Tural was released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses and is scheduled to appear in Town of Walton Court at a later date.
