Utica police seize cocaine, fentanyl during narcotics raid

UTICA — Investigators from the Utica Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at 613 Albany St. on June 24 after an investigation into the sale and distribution of narcotics.

The operation was assisted by members of the Utica Police Department Patrol Division and investigators with the Oneida County Narcotics Unit.

Police said the search resulted in the seizure of felony quantities of cocaine and fentanyl.

Officers also located scales, packaging materials, and U.S. currency during the search.

William Antonetti Fontanez, 32, of Utica, was arrested following the investigation.

Fontanez was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, one count each for cocaine and fentanyl, both with intent to sell.

He was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree for cocaine and fentanyl.

Additional charges include two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Fontanez was processed and awaits further court proceedings.
