Utica police arrest woman in downtown business vandalism

UTICA — Utica police have arrested a woman in connection with an incident of vandalism reported at a downtown business on May 9.

Officers were dispatched after an individual urinated and defecated on the carpeting and flooring inside the establishment.

Surveillance video from the business helped police quickly identify the suspect.

Business owners reported that the damage resulted in over $1,700 in cleaning costs.

The case was assigned to the Utica Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.

On June 24, officers located and arrested Latoya Jenkins, 36, who has no known address.

Jenkins has been charged with criminal mischief in the second degree.
