NORWALK — A 41-year-old Bronx man turned himself in to police June 25 in connection with a burglary at Golf Galaxy that resulted in the theft of approximately $23,000 worth of golf clubs.
Matthew Berman of 274 East 238th St. in the Bronx was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.
Police responded to the burglary at Golf Galaxy, located at 595 Connecticut Avenue, on Feb. 17.
Detectives determined that approximately $23,000 worth of golf clubs had been stolen during the incident.
With assistance from New York State Police, Norwalk detectives identified Berman as a suspect.
Berman has been connected to a series of commercial burglaries targeting golf equipment retailers across the New York area, resulting in the theft of thousands of dollars of high-end merchandise, police said.
Norwalk detectives developed probable cause for an arrest warrant.
Berman turned himself in to Detective Bryce, the lead investigator in the case, on the morning of June 25.
Bond was set at $200,000.
Berman is scheduled to appear in court July 9.
