LOCKPORT — An 18-year-old Niagara Falls man was arrested early Tuesday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through Lockport that ended with a foot pursuit.
Deputy Gilhousen spotted an orange Chevrolet sedan traveling at excessive speeds northbound on South Transit Road at 3:18 a.m. June 24, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of South Transit Road, but the vehicle failed to yield and continued fleeing northbound into the city of Lockport.
The pursuit continued through the northern section of Lockport until the driver abandoned the vehicle near the intersection of Caledonia Street and Lock Street.
A foot chase followed, and the driver was apprehended in the 100 block of Church Street.
The suspect was identified as Aiden C. McGrew of Niagara Falls.
McGrew was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, reckless driving and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
Due to bail reform legislation, McGrew was processed at the Niagara County Correctional Facility and released on appearance tickets returnable to Lockport Town Court.
