Cortland man arrested on felony contempt, weapon menacing charges

CORTLANDVILLE — New York State Police arrested a Cortland man June 19 on felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from an alleged gun menacing incident.

Spencer L. Dafoe, 34, was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony, and menacing with a weapon in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

Troopers from SP Homer responded June 17 to a menacing complaint on State Route 13 in Cortlandville.

An investigation determined that Dafoe menaced a victim with a gun, according to police.

The victim has a court-ordered full stay away order of protection against Dafoe, police said.

Dafoe was additionally charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, on an outstanding warrant for allegedly violating a court-ordered full stay away order of protection by making contact with a victim.

Dafoe was processed and transported to the Cortland County Jail for centralized arraignment.
