COHOES — State Police arrested a 32-year-old Cohoes man Friday on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Matthew P. Roberts was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.
Roberts is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
The arrest followed an investigation that stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
State Police of Latham conducted the arrest with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Roberts was processed at State Police Latham.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Cohoes City Court on June 19 and released.
