BOSTON — A Dorchester man wanted in connection with a 2023 shooting at the J’ouvert Parade that wounded eight people was arrested in Georgia following a six-month investigation.
Gerald Vick, 31, was apprehended without incident in Lithia Springs, Georgia, by the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force, Boston police said.
Vick had been on the run since removing his court-ordered electronic monitoring bracelet the night before his scheduled trial.
He was wanted on a warrant from Suffolk Superior Court for eight counts of assault and battery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a machine gun, unlawful possession of a firearm, and firearm use in commission of a felony.
The charges stem from a shooting at about 7:44 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2023, during the J’ouvert Parade.
Six adult males and two females were shot, with five males and one female transported to area hospitals.
Two additional victims with graze wounds declined treatment.
All injuries were considered non-life threatening.
Boston police officers administered tourniquets and other first aid until emergency medical services arrived.
Officers arrested Vick and Dwayne Francis, 30, also of Dorchester, at the scene shortly after the shootings.
Police recovered a 9mm pistol with a large capacity magazine from Vick that was equipped with a “Glock switch” enabling the firearm to fire continuously.
Francis was found in possession of a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol.
Both suspects were initially charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
