WESTVILLE — An 81-year-old Malone man was injured Monday afternoon when he swerved to avoid an animal and crashed into a telephone pole on State Route 122.
Dale I. Patterson was driving a gray 2012 Nissan east on State Route 122 at approximately 1:53 p.m. when an animal suddenly ran onto the roadway, according to New York State Police.
Patterson swerved off the road to avoid hitting the animal and struck a telephone pole.
He was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
National Grid responded to the scene to address damage to the telephone pole.
Patterson was treated and later released from the hospital.
