Westbury woman arrested on aggravated DWI charges with infant in car

WESTBURY — A 22-year-old woman was arrested on aggravated driving while intoxicated charges after police found her operating a vehicle with a 3-month-old passenger, Nassau County Police said.

Michelle Lopez was stopped at 11:55 p.m. Sunday while driving a white 2013 Honda Civic northbound on Merrick Avenue near Stewart Avenue, police said.

Officers initiated the traffic stop after observing the vehicle had no front license plate, according to police.

During the stop, officers observed Lopez had slurred speech, watery eyes and an odor of alcohol on her breath, police said.

Lopez showed positive results on standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested without incident, police said.

The 3-month-old female passenger was released to a family member, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

Lopez was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 16, two counts of driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions.
