MONTPELIER — Three people were arrested following a physical altercation in a supermarket parking lot June 22.
Montpelier police responded to a report of a fight at Shaw’s Supermarket at 4 Main Street at approximately 9:08 p.m.
Officers were told the individuals involved had left the scene in a red pickup truck.
Police located and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Berlin Street and River Street.
The driver was identified as Spencer Sherman Jr., 30, of Barre, and the passenger as Emily Shoestock, 25, who is transient.
Investigation revealed a physical altercation had occurred involving Sherman, Shoestock and a third individual, Steven Byrd Jr., 26, who is also transient.
Byrd and Shoestock are in a domestic relationship and were both subject to court-ordered conditions of release prohibiting violent behavior.
Byrd was not at the scene but was later found on Taylor Street by Montpelier Ambulance Service and officers.
He was transported to a hospital with serious facial injuries.
Sherman will be arraigned in Washington County Superior Court on a charge of aggravated assault.
Shoestock will be arraigned for domestic assault and violation of conditions of release.
Byrd will be arraigned for simple assault, domestic assault and violation of conditions of release.
