PALMYRA — Two Palmyra women were arrested for the second time following a dog bite incident that injured two juveniles.
Amy M. Pettey, 46, and Jezmariah T. Lagrand, 25, were arrested June 19 in connection with a June 8 incident at 7:30 p.m. in front of 124 Market St., according to the Palmyra Police Department.
Police allege the women failed to control their dog, allowing it to bite two juveniles during the same incident.
The dog is known to be reckless and create a substantial risk of serious physical injury to community members, police said.
Both women have been contacted by police and Palmyra’s Animal Control Officer numerous times due to the dog being at large, chasing people and biting them.
Pettey and Lagrand have been issued tickets by the Animal Control Officer and have both been previously charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree but have refused to rectify the situation, police said.
Lagrand was charged with one count of reckless endangerment in the second degree.
Pettey was charged with one count of reckless endangerment in the second degree and one count of resisting arrest.
Both women were processed at the Palmyra Police Department and released with appearance tickets to appear at Palmyra Village Court on Aug. 5 at 5 p.m.
