SPRINGFIELD — A 38-year-old Springfield man was arrested Thursday night on an outstanding warrant after allegedly causing a disturbance at Springfield Hospital and then fleeing from police.

Justin Fiske was taken into custody at approximately 10:10 p.m. June 5 following a brief chase and search involving Springfield police officers and Windsor County Sheriff’s deputies.

Officers were dispatched to the Springfield Hospital area at approximately 9:52 p.m. for reports that Fiske was “causing a scene.”

Police knew Fiske had an active in-state arrest warrant when they responded to the call.

Officers encountered Fiske near the hospital on Park Street close to the intersection of Harlow and Coolidge Road.

Fiske ran from officers, jumped a fence and hid in the area, according to police.

Windsor County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Springfield police in searching for Fiske.

Officers found Fiske hiding in bushes on Harlow Road and took him into custody after what police described as an altercation.

Fiske was transported to Springfield Hospital for injuries sustained during his arrest before being taken to Southern State Correctional Facility.

He was issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on June 6 to answer the warrant charge.

Fiske was held at the correctional facility on $1,000 cash or surety bail.
