BOSTON — Boston police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in Roxbury.
Teo Vernice, 21, of Hyde Park, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after being shot in the area of 163 Ruthven Street, police said Friday.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 10:01 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, officers found Vernice outside the location suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting may have occurred inside a vehicle that crashed at the scene.
Boston EMS transported Vernice to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound.
Detectives from the Boston Police Department Homicide Unit are actively investigating the incident.
