SAINT JOHNSBURY — A 28-year-old Saint Johnsbury man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Thursday morning while his juvenile child was a passenger in the vehicle.
Dylan J. Southworth was charged with DUI, cruelty to a child and reckless endangerment following the incident at 12:05 a.m. at Memorial Drive and Hospital Drive.
Vermont State Police troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle sitting at a flashing yellow light for an extended period without moving.
Troopers stopped to check on the vehicle and detected indicators of impairment while speaking with Southworth.
Southworth was arrested and transported to the Saint Johnsbury Barracks for processing.
Arrangements were made for Southworth’s juvenile child to be reunited with family.
Southworth was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division and released.
