Providence police arrest 4 in traffic stops over 2 days

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police arrested four people during traffic stops Thursday and Friday on various charges including warrant violations and driving offenses.

At 9:38 a.m. Thursday, troopers arrested Julio Rodriguez, 41, of Providence, on a Superior Court warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance from Providence Police.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Westminster Street.

Rodriguez was processed at State Police headquarters and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, troopers arrested Johnny Rivera, 44, of Warwick, for driving with a suspended license under special circumstances during a traffic stop on Florence Street.

Rivera was processed at State Police headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

At 12:50 a.m. Friday, troopers arrested Emilio Duverge, 23, of Providence, on a Superior Court bench warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of obtaining property by false pretenses from Newport Police.

The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on Union Avenue.

Duverge was processed at State Police headquarters and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

At 1:54 a.m. Friday, troopers arrested Lance Brown, 34, of Pawtucket, for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .1 and .15 percent, second offense.

Brown’s breath tests showed .100 percent and .098 percent blood alcohol content.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Huntington Avenue.

Brown was processed at State Police headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released to a responsible adult.
