HIGHGATE — Vermont State Police arrested two people on drug charges after U.S. Customs and Border Patrol seized narcotics from their vehicle at the Highgate Port of Entry early Friday morning.

Seth Elgin, 54, of Needham, Massachusetts, and Ashly Paris, 43, of North Providence, Rhode Island, were detained by border patrol agents at approximately 1:50 a.m. June 20.

Both suspects face identical charges including felony cocaine possession, ecstasy possession, and depressant, stimulant and narcotic possession.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks responded to the port of entry after border patrol agents seized narcotics in amounts large enough to meet felony charges under Vermont law.

Elgin and Paris were transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing before being lodged.
