GREENWICH — The Greenwich Police Department arrested Hotstyn Barrera-Perico on June 18 in connection with a Jan. 6, 2023 residential burglary.
The 27-year-old was taken into custody at Stamford Superior Court, where he was being held on unrelated charges.
He was served with an arrest warrant signed on Aug. 10, 2023, with a $250,000 bond.
The burglary occurred while the residents were away on vacation.
Entry was made through a rear bathroom window, and over $7,900 in property was stolen.
Home surveillance footage showed two masked and gloved suspects ransacking the home.
One suspect, later identified as Barrera-Perico, was seen approaching the front door earlier that day carrying a box, a method often used to determine if a residence is occupied.
Detectives recovered surveillance from a nearby residence showing a dark-colored SUV and two suspects involved.
Greenwich Police worked with Stamford, Darien, and Nassau County Police Departments to identify Barrera-Perico as part of a South American theft group operating across the tri-state area.
The group was known to use stolen license plates during coordinated burglaries.
Barrera-Perico was positively identified through surveillance footage, vehicle tracking data, and physical surveillance conducted by Nassau County Police.
He has also been charged in similar burglaries in Stamford.
Barrera-Perico was charged with burglary in the 3rd degree, larceny in the 3rd degree, and conspiracy to commit burglary in the 3rd degree.
