COHOES — The U.S. Marshals Task Force and members of the Cohoes Police Department executed a search warrant at 46 Columbia Street, Apt. 2, on Wednesday at approximately 1:55 p.m.
The focus of the investigation was Mikel Hackett, 39, who was wanted out of the city of Syracuse for second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a loaded firearm.
Hackett was successfully taken into custody without incident.
Cohoes Police Department detectives then executed a search warrant which resulted in the recovery of a loaded Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm handgun, 6.8 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 43.6 grams of fentanyl, 0.3 grams of methamphetamine and 12.9 grams of cocaine.
Hackett, who resides in Syracuse, was subsequently turned over to Syracuse detectives on their charges.
Charges are pending in Cohoes for the evidence recovered.
