HIGHGATE — Two vehicles crashed on Vermont Route 78 near Carter Hill Road during rainy conditions Thursday afternoon at 3:04 p.m.
Cassondra Tiffany, 28, of St. Albans, was driving a 2024 Ford F-150 eastbound on Route 78 when she rear-ended a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Derek Choate, 34, of Highgate.
State police said Choate had stopped his vehicle near 2409 Route 78 to turn into a residence but was waiting for westbound traffic to clear.
Tiffany was unable to stop her vehicle on the wet roadway and struck the rear of Choate’s vehicle.
Both operators were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Two young children in car seats were riding in Tiffany’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported by either operator or the children.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene.
State police and local fire and rescue personnel responded to the crash.
