Rhode Island police arrest 9 in drug, fraud investigations

PROVIDENCE — Members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Darren Gonzalez, age 26, of 11 Fern Street Apartment 2, Providence, on Wednesday at approximately 6:30 a.m. on an affidavit and arrest warrant for felony domestic charges.

Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Providence Police Department.

At approximately 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, the same task force arrested Austin Duarte, age 24, of 9 Berlin Street, Providence, on an affidavit and arrest warrant for first-degree robbery and conspiracy.

Duarte was taken into custody without incident and turned over to the Providence Police Department.

Members of the HIDTA Task Force, along with Cranston Police Department and Pawtucket Police Special Squad officers, arrested Luis Enrique Molina, age 34, of 47 Hyatt Avenue, Providence, at approximately 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Molina faces charges including possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and crack cocaine, and conspiracy.

The arrest resulted from execution of court-authorized search warrants following a narcotics investigation.

Molina was transported to Lincoln Barracks for processing and turned over to Sixth District Court officials for afternoon arraignment.

At the same time, the task force arrested Luis Miguel Molina, age 32, of 15 Fenner Street Apt. 2, Cranston, on identical charges.

Luis Miguel Molina was also transported to Lincoln Barracks and turned over to Sixth District Court officials.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, the task force arrested Damian Polanco, age 28, of 69-71 Talcott Avenue, Pawtucket, on the same drug-related charges.

Polanco was transported to Lincoln Barracks and turned over to Sixth District Court officials for afternoon arraignment.

The task force also arrested Luis Armando Molina, age 27, of 176 Holden Street Apt. 2, Providence, at approximately 5:00 a.m. Wednesday on identical charges.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Financial Crimes Unit members arrested Narcisa Fuerte, age 58, of 13 John Chafee Blvd., Apt. 1, Newport.

Fuerte faces charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, fraudulently obtaining public assistance, giving false documents to a public official and conspiracy.

Fuerte was processed, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Crawford, and released on $15,000 personal recognizance.

Socrates Fuerte, age 61, of the same Newport address, was arrested at the same time on identical charges.

Socrates Fuerte was also released on $15,000 personal recognizance after arraignment.

Financial Crimes Unit members also arrested Frank Young, age 62, of 17 Mawney Street, Floor 1, Providence, at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Young faces charges of obtaining property by false pretenses and access to computer for fraudulent purposes.

Young was processed, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Crawford, and released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
