PEEKSKILL — Walter F. Bustos-Solis was apprehended by federal authorities in Puebla City, Mexico, on June 12 in connection with a 2024 homicide investigation.
Bustos-Solis has been extradited to the United States and is currently in the custody of the Peekskill Police and FBI.
He is scheduled to appear in federal court on June 20.
The case stems from a June 10, 2024, incident when Peekskill police officers responded to reports of an altercation on the 900 block of Main Street at 3:40 a.m.
Officers discovered Carlos Rodriguez, who had sustained severe lacerations to the lower part of his body.
Rodriguez received immediate medical attention and was transported to Westchester Medical Center by EMS.
Rodriguez died on June 16, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained during the altercation.
Peekskill police detectives identified Bustos-Solis as a suspect in the case.
The Peekskill Police Department thanked several agencies for their assistance, including the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, Waterbury Police Department, Connecticut State Police, Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, and Mexican federal authorities.
