North Haven SWAT standoff ends with arrest of New Haven man

NORTH HAVEN — A domestic violence incident led to a seven-hour SWAT standoff that ended with the arrest of a 24-year-old New Haven man early Wednesday morning.

Jovierre Reveron of Ley Street was taken into custody at approximately 7:30 a.m. after surrendering to police at 1031 Hartford Turnpike.

The incident began at approximately 12:30 a.m. when North Haven officers assisted East Haven police in attempting to arrest Reveron for a family violence incident.

Upon arrival at the residence, Reveron was uncooperative and in possession of a rifle, according to the East Haven Police Department.

Reveron was contained to the residence and the South-Central Regional SWAT Team was activated.

Negotiators spoke with Reveron for hours attempting to convince him to safely exit the home and surrender.

No injuries occurred to Reveron or any officers during the incident.

Police said there was no threat to the public as Reveron was contained the entire time.

Reveron has been charged with threatening in the first degree, breach of peace in the second degree and interfering with a police investigation.

He is being held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on June 20.
