WESTBOROUGH — Two juveniles were arrested June 17 after leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle that ended when the car became disabled on a dead-end dirt road.
Officers were alerted to a vehicle operating erratically in the Target parking lot and nearly striking a pedestrian around evening hours.
The vehicle was confirmed stolen from Worcester on June 16 through its registration plate.
When the driver spotted a police cruiser, the vehicle sped away at high speed onto eastbound Route 9.
A supervisor terminated the pursuit on Milk Street after the stolen vehicle sideswiped another car and continued fleeing.
The suspect vehicle then slowed and entered the parking lot at 69 Milk Street, where occupants appeared ready to flee on foot.
An unmarked police unit observed this and radioed other cruisers before the driver again fled down an adjacent dead-end dirt road.
The vehicle, now operating on three wheels, turned around and drove directly toward stopped police cruisers.
The suspect vehicle attempted to squeeze between a tree and a K9 cruiser but became disabled after striking a rock, tree and the police vehicle.
The driver revved the engine and spun the wheels attempting to free the car before giving up.
Two juveniles were taken into custody with multiple charges filed against the driver.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the sideswiped vehicle sustained moderate damage.
