WEATHERSFIELD — A 37-year-old Springfield man was arrested Tuesday on charges of second degree aggravated domestic assault and interference with access to emergency services.
Christopher Price was taken into custody after fleeing on foot from the Ascutney Fire Station, where the alleged victim had sought help.
Sheriff Ryan Palmer was notified by Ascutney Fire personnel that a vehicle had pulled into their parking lot and the operator reported they had been assaulted.
Multiple units from the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, along with officers from Windsor Police Department, Springfield Police Department, and the Vermont State Police, responded to the area.
The sheriff’s department’s K9 team, Deputy Howe and K9 Kye, initiated a track, while the Vermont State Police Drone Unit assisted in the search.
Price was believed to be armed with a knife.
Residents later spotted Price near a nearby residence and promptly called 911.
Springfield Officers Cpl. Perkins and Officer Guzzo, who were already in position, responded quickly and took Price into custody without further incident.
Price was evaluated by Golden Cross Ambulance and transported to Mt. Ascutney Hospital for injuries sustained from a fall, prior to any police contact.
He was later lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility and cited to appear in Windsor County Court on June 18 at 1:00 p.m.
