NORTH ADAMS — Police arrested two people Wednesday during simultaneous raids on apartments suspected of being used for drug distribution.
Members of the North Adams Police Department Detective Unit, Adams Police Department and Berkshire County Drug Task Force executed search warrants at two apartments at 21 Blackinton Street.
Five people were found and detained in the second-floor apartment, according to police.
One man initially refused to identify himself to investigators and was later identified as Kamari Acree of Springfield.
Police seized approximately 26 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, about 592 bags of heroin totaling 12 grams, digital scales, packaging materials, cutting agents and $821 in cash.
Acree was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance and conspiracy.
Ronni Hart of North Adams was also arrested on the same charges.
The search warrants were part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics distribution from both apartments, police said.
