FARMINGTON — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a domestic violence shooting that left a woman critically injured Tuesday afternoon.
Gunthar Swan of Farmington was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder and domestic violence elevated aggravated assault following the incident at 513 Fairbanks Road.
The Franklin County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 1:54 p.m. reporting that a person had been shot inside the residence.
Farmington Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the scene.
The caller reported the suspect had fled the residence on foot.
Swan was located a short distance south of the residence and detained by a sheriff’s detective.
Police found the victim, a 29-year-old woman, at the residence with serious injuries to her face.
NorthStar Ambulance transported her to Maine Health Franklin Hospital, where she was transferred to a waiting LifeFlight helicopter.
She was then flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment and was listed in critical condition.
Police described the incident as an isolated domestic violence altercation.
