BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 43-year-old man on firearm and drug charges following a drug investigation in Roxbury on Tuesday.
Officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District B-2 arrested Diallo Coren of Boston at about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Columbia Road and Arion Street.
Police had received a community complaint that a home in the area was selling narcotics and set up surveillance.
Officers observed two males walking on Columbia Road toward Bird Street while counting U.S. currency.
The two individuals met with two other males who were sitting at a bus kiosk.
Officers saw the two males sitting down reach into a backpack and hand the other males an unknown amount of money.
One male walked away from the group toward Bird Street while clenching his right hand, then returned to the group.
Officers observed what they believed to be a street-level drug transaction between two individuals.
A Drug Control Officer approached the group and identified himself as a Boston Police Officer.
The officer saw one individual holding a crack pipe and cupping his other hand, and recovered crack cocaine from him.
The officer observed a second male also cupping his hands and recovered drugs from him.
The second male opened his fanny pack that was over his shoulder.
The officer observed a black canister inside the bag and recovered a Glock 27 with nine rounds in the magazine.
Coren is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of Class B drugs and possession of Class C drugs.
