3 assaults reported in Somerville over 6-day period

SOMERVILLE — Three separate assault incidents were reported to Somerville Police between June 11 and June 16, according to department records.

The first incident occurred June 11 at approximately 2:06 p.m. when police responded to Statue Park for an assault report.

Officers spoke with a victim who stated he was sitting on a bench when he was punched in the face.

On June 16 at approximately 9:41 a.m., police responded to Hudson Street for a road rage incident.

The victim told officers he was involved in a traffic altercation with a male suspect who began punching him and then attempted to drive away while the victim was on the vehicle.

The victim suffered injuries to his leg and neck, and officers identified the suspect.

Later that day at approximately 9:10 p.m., police responded to Perkins Street for a check condition call.

Officers spoke with a victim who stated he was walking home when he was sprayed with mace by an individual known to him.

Police also reported 16 other crimes during the period, including five bicycle thefts, five car breaks, two motor vehicle thefts, two motor vehicle vandalisms, one vandalism incident and one package theft.
