Worcester man arrested after firing gun at Green Hill Park

WORCESTER — A 20-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly firing a gun at another person near Green Hill Park, police said.

Worcester Police officers responded to Manny Familia Way at about 7:44 p.m. June 16 for a report of a male who had just fired a gun.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Jose Segovia of Merrifield Street, who matched the description of the shooter given by dispatch.

Segovia fled into the woods near Green Hill Park when he saw the police cruisers.

Officers followed Segovia and caught up to him in the woods, where he was detained.

Officers received information that Segovia was involved in an argument with another male and that Segovia fired a shot at the male but missed.

A K9 unit responded and performed an article search, locating a handgun about 10 feet from where Segovia was taken into custody.

Segovia was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
