PITTSFIELD — The Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing phone scam reported through multiple calls today.
An individual is contacting community members claiming they missed a scheduled court date and have a warrant for their arrest.
The caller is identifying himself as Lieutenant Michael Thomas at (413) 500-5577 of the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office.
The scammer is requesting money through various online services in exchange for clearing the supposed warrant.
The sheriff’s office says they do not have a Lieutenant Michael Thomas as an employee and do not make such calls to the community.
Officials are advising residents who receive such calls to hang up immediately.
