RANDOLPH — Vermont State Police arrested a 30-year-old South Royalton man on multiple charges including first-degree aggravated domestic assault following a domestic violence incident involving a knife on June 16.
Jonathan A. Steele faces charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal threatening, interference with access to emergency services, first-degree unlawful restraint and DUI.
Troopers from the Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks responded to a 911 hang-up call at approximately 4:50 p.m. at a residence on East Bethel Road.
Upon arrival, troopers learned that a domestic assault involving a knife had occurred at the residence.
A subsequent investigation determined that Steele used a knife in a manner that met the elements of the charges filed against him.
Troopers found probable cause that the victim was restrained and feared serious or deadly bodily injury before being restricted from continuing to communicate with emergency services.
Randolph Police Department assisted troopers and initially secured the residential scene.
After learning that Steele had fled the scene, Royalton Police and state troopers located him.
Troopers found probable cause that Steele was operating a motor vehicle while impaired.
Steele was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility and issued a criminal citation for the charges.
