Middlesex crash injures 1, leads to DUI arrest

MIDDLESEX — Vermont State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 2 near Vermont Route 100B at 9:53 p.m. Sunday.

Benjamin Harmon, 34, of Waitsfield, was driving a 2016 Subaru Outback when he attempted to pass a 2019 Honda HR-V on a curve, according to police.

The Honda was operated by Ava Ure, 22, of Montpelier.

A 2024 Kia EV9 driven by Damian DiNicola, 48, of Randolph, was traveling in the opposite direction when Harmon’s vehicle made contact with both the Honda and the Kia, causing the crash.

Police determined Harmon was under the influence of intoxicants and took him into custody after roadside screening.

Ure was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for suspected injuries.

DiNicola was not injured in the crash.

Harmon was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing and released with a citation to appear in court.

Weather conditions were clear with dry roads at the time of the crash.
