Mendon motorcycle crash injures 3 on U.S. Route 4

MENDON — Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash involving two motorcycles and a pickup truck on U.S. Route 4 near Tenney Lane on June 16 at approximately 1:11 p.m.

Andrew Buskey, 68, of Cadyville, New York, was operating a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on U.S. Route 4 when he collided with the rear of a 2024 Toyota Tacoma that was preparing to make a left turn, according to Vermont State Police.

Robert Laduke, 59, of Westerlo, New York, was operating a second 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle with passenger Coleen Murphy, 60, when he attempted evasive maneuvers but collided with the driver’s side front corner of the Toyota before driving off the paved road surface.

The Toyota was operated by Sydney Abramovich, 26, of Portland, Maine.

Buskey sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Murphy also sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Laduke sustained minor injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Abramovich was not injured.

Both motorcycles sustained significant damage, while the Toyota sustained significant damage.

Road conditions were dry and weather was clear at the time of the crash.

Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks were assisted on scene by Rutland City Fire Department and Regional Ambulance Service.

A Vermont Civil Violation Complaint is pending.
